Personally, I like the album very much. The use of horns and sax gives the album an added dimesion to the blues style guitar of Mark Knopfler. Several songs are reminiscent of earlier works, notably 'Walk on Life' reminds me (musically) of 'industrial disease' with its up beat bouncy keyboards. The other songs ( mainly side two ) remind me of the jazz/blues fusion I used to hear when I worked in a tiny jazz club years ago, with the smooth rhythms and crying saxophone. With the exception of a few songs ( money for nothing, so far away, and walk on life ) the album adheres to this style.... is this the latest style for the band? or Do YOU think it is a logical departure from their more recent works ( Love over gold, making movies ...... )? Post followups, reply, flame on as you wish, but there has got to be more than one reason the album is the no. 1 seller this week ( according to KZAP 98.5 FM Sacramento ) Let's hear from you .... -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dennis Michaels @ University of California, Davis ...ucbvax!ucdavis!harpo!ccs009 * * * U.S.Mail: 609 Anderson Rd # 151 * * * * Davis , CA 95616 * * * ** * _________ ___^___ . * ** * * * * * . \________| ==_______== * * @ * ** * ** \\ / /~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~* @KB@ * ** * . \\___/_/_ . * * * @* * * . /_______|-( * * * * *
