Good beach reading stuff. Lots of info on bands. Some glaring omissions. Some stuff I really didn't think fit the definition of non-mainstream music was included, CULTURE CLUB, SADE, NAKED EYES for example. Some of the ommisions would fit in (DIRE STRAITS, GRATEFUL DEAD) to 60's rock definition. Some good punk/hardcore/whathaveyou bands didn't make it like OFFENDERS and REAGAN YOUTH. The book suffered because the majority of the new reviews were done by one person and I really can't believe he had the time to give everything a thorough listening. -Jim
