Dmitri Mendeleev (1834 - 1907) was not a Commie. His political views were
monarchist. I don't remember if he was godless, but I doubt it.

(I have no particular quarrel with the rest of the note.
I am pretty godless myself, and so are my kids. But I sometimes
think religion at school might do them good, for the reason
that resisting outside pressure builds up character. For religious
kids, it would work in reverse: atheism taught in school might
do them good ...)
