Snow report: Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood, as of 850910:1100.
Snow level: ~4000 (pass level)

About 6" fresh reported at Timberline Lodge (6000 ft) by one of our
instructors who lives near there.  This is nine days earlier than last year's
first major snow.  (There was a light snowfall at Timberline about two weeks
ago.)  Freezing level is keeping below 6000.  This may be premature cause
to hope for an early opening if there is an indian summer.  (Timberline opened
last year on November 16, I believe.)  There is certainly still XC skiing (at
the cost of a mile hike) on the Palmer Glacier.
