This is a logical system, but it can result in a trip to the store per week per person. The system in my previous household was to have an agreed-upon list of things which would always be kept on hand by means of the weekly shopping trip. $20 per week per person kept the cupboards and refrigerators full enough for 3 meals a day and snacks. (Some extra money was allocated for birthdays.) If any given week required a smaller than usual purchase of staples, the shopper could splurge on blueberries, kippered herring, or whatever. [Shopping list available on request in troff format.] _____________________________________________________ Matt University crawford@anl-mcs.arpa Crawford of Chicago ihnp4!oddjob!matt
