If you haven't, here is a quick rundown. 68000 based system with a two level operating system. Core system is called AmigaDOS and is clearly a UNIX lookalike that supports csh type conditionals for shell scripts, file redirection, and multi-tasking The neophyte user-interface is called intuition, and is a menu-driven windowed system that uses a mouse (sound familiar?). Base system ($1200) has 256K memory, 4 channel synthesiser, and choice of 5 graphics modes with screen resolution up to roughly 300 by 600, and up to 32 simultaneous colors selected from a palet of 4096 possible colors. (There is even a way to show more than 32 colors on the same screen.) The 68000 clocks at over 7 megahertz, and is augmented by custom chips for i/o, sound, and graphics. Available options include an IBM PC emulator, hard disk, and up to 8 Megabytes of memory! There is a *ell of a lot more to this machine, but I leave that to your own research. Needless to say, there will probably be a net.sources.amiga newsgroup before too much longer.
