This trade had been rumored months before, but with the Celtics receiving Jerry Sichting instead of the pick. An Indiana #2 would probably replace one of the #2's traded to New York for Ray Williams. With ML retired, the Celtics now have only 11 returnees from their 1985 squad ( They were carrying 13 people at the end of the year, with Rick Carlisle on "injured reserve").
