I have a modified version of Ken Turkowski's newsweed, which has been given the ability to filter news by keywords in the subject line. For example, if the keywords "Weekly USENET Report," "PMS," or "Beirut" show up in a title, it's automatically trashed (though the title line is printed on the screen so you know what's been deleted, just in case you change your mind). Newsweed is a nice little utility in its own right: it's main function is to make a file of subject lines, which you then edit by deleting uninteresting lines. Articles corresponding to deleted lines are not presented to you when you run vnews or readnews. Send mail if you want my version of newsweed (which is a combination csh/awk script). -- Robert Plamondon {turtlevax, resonex, cae780}!weitek!robert
