Lines: 11 re: If you fear losing your identity because of something like changing your name, you must have a shakey self identity to start with. Many women, like me, work in a large organization. Most of the people in upper management who have the power to promote, know me almost exclusively by my written work. If next week, I change my name...sure the people I work with everyday will still know who I am...but those people who no longer see my "old" name on my written documents will not necessarily associate my "new" name to me. Therefore, the reputation I am building almost has to start over. Yes, I loose my identity (in part) when my name changes, No I don't have any problem with my self-worth or about who I am.
