I have two close friendships with women of the older generation. These are very warm, lasting friendships. One of them composes computer music (as I do) and we have put on several concerts together. As for the relationship with my mother - I have exactly the relationship I want with her - I haven't spoken to her in 15 years, and was completely on my own by the time I was 17.
