To which Charles Forsythe, in customary fashion, replies: > They're at home, barefoot and (or course) pregnant. Charles must think he is something of a wit. (He's half right, of course -- get it, Charles? In other words (in case you're having an unusually slow day), you are a half-wit.) And a jerk. Try not to let it show so much. One way to keep your jerkiness hidden is to keep your mouth shut when you don't know what you're talking about. Now, if you want to know some facts (which I doubt -- it so limits the half-witted wisecracks available), my wife is at home, may or may not be barefoot -- I usually take my shoes off as soon as I get home, too -- and is pregnant. Now, so what? She is home because spending time with our daughter is more important TO HER than the extra income she would earn, if she had full time employment elsewhere. If she is barefoot, it is because she finds it more comfortable than wearing shoes (I never did understand the significance of being barefoot). She is pregnant largely because *she* wanted to be -- I helped all I could, of course :-), but her desire for another baby is very strong, stronger than mine. Does it bother you that my wife *wants* to stay home to take care of our daughter, and *wants* to be pregnant? (And are you offended by bare feet?) Or do you think that being at home and pregnant is prima facie evidence that she was coerced into that state? (To anyone else reading this: please note that I am only at odds with Charles Forsythe on this; I am not attributing these attitudes to others.) > I don't think they'd > be allowed to use a computer if they knew how. Listen, Creep, you can insult me all you want, but don't start on my wife. Your wisecrack (foolcrack?) above is an insult to my wife's intelligence. It implies that she is ignorant, and unable to make any decisions by herself. For your information, my wife has a BA in Mathematics and is a certified teacher (secondary Math and Science) in three (maybe four) states. She also went to summer school for six weeks this past July-August, to improve her teaching skills. Furthermore (as should be clear, even to you, by this time), she does know how to use a computer. We have two personal computers -- an Apple II+ and a Macintosh. She knows how to use both of them. And, of course, she is allowed to. Even our daughter (not quite 3 years) is allowed to use them, under supervision. Got that, Charles? We're teaching our DAUGHTER how to use a computer. You owe my wife a public apology.
