Does anyone know of a book on the different varieties of apples, their uses and availability? Two varieties of eating apples I'm particularly fond of are the McCowan, somewhat of a cross between the Macintosh and the red delicious, and the snow apple. I've been able to get them only on the east coast; does anyone know where I can get them in the San Francisco Bay area? I've heard that a good apple for pies is the Greening apple.
