But, when I exit at the end of the day and come back the next morning the options are back to their default values. How do I save the option settings and recall them later? 2 - How can I recall macro definitions after I have exited and returned? 3 - Can options be changed and macros defined in the .emacs file? If so, how? 4 - What are some of the more interesting, useful and easy things that can be done in the .emacs file (other that changing key bindings)? How are these done? 5 - Is it possible to have a file of EMACS commands that can be called and executed in the middle of editing? How can I create such a file? In other words I would like to customize EMACS a bit more to my liking, but I am having problems doing it. By the way we have version 16.56.1. I know a little LISP, not enough to write any real code, but enough to be able to modify an example.
