It's hard to compare smoking to sick shit like child abuse. Things
of that ilk ARE CRIMINAL ACTS, NOT HABITS!!

Quite frankly, I'm amazed that someone like you draws such sick
analogies  to situations like this.

Great piece of philosophy there folks. So why don't we also get rid
of the dope pushers, pimps, drunks, junkies, child abusers, ax-murderers,
and mercy killers because they all cost us money to enforce laws, provide
food and shelter in prisons or detox wards, etc. Think about this ,idiot,
if there was fair compansation for all of us who have to support other's
offensive habits (or crimes, from your point of view), we would
definitely not be enjoying our respective lifestyles in this country
as we presently do.

The main point is, I do not consider cigarette/cigar/pipe smoking to
be: (a) detrimental to one's performance on the job (b) a factor
in evaluating an individual.

Obviously, someone with a drinking or drug problem, or involved in
*child buggering* is going to be in heavier shit than just his or
her job. Your comparison doesn't make sense.

Since you obviously delight in taking me out of context, let me treat
you to a taste of your own medicine:
I don't wear a suit and tie, either. And I can come to work when
I please (within reason, of course).

With spelling like that, I'm suprised YOU graduated from EIGHTH grade.
To answer: sure I used the "ivory tower" to advance myself into the
position I now have. My point is that the university environment
gets to be too idealistic most of the time. Also, I have found that
university technical departments cannot keep pace with what is currently
going on in an industry, particularly the computer industry. An example
is shown in my reply to your flame below:

I don't know where you heard all of this before, but it's WRONG!!!!!

First, a UCB shell doesn't exist. I believe you are making a half-assed
attempt to refer to the Bourne or C- shells.

Second, there is no "att shell". We use the Bourne, C, and korn shells
just like any other UNIX installation. If you run on a Pyramid machine
under OSx, and specify "att" for the SV side of OSx, you get the
Bourne shell!

Third, I believe you are referring to implementations of UNIX, NOT
shells. The two are miles apart when looked upon as a whole.

Finally, brush up on your spelling, read your documentation, and when
you've got your shit together such that you want to challenge me
again, I'm waiting......
