I'm new at this. Many people, but not all, post messages as if they expected the first line to disappear. I see this fact, which means that it doesn't, at least to me. On what pair of sending/receiving systems do first lines disappear? Or is this a vestigal response to a bug that was cleared up a long time ago? Please respond directly.
