My musical background is mainly piano, but I've been banging around on an old classical guitar for the past few months. As a result, I have a solid background in music theory, I can pick out a few chords, and I know the fingerboard fairly well. I'll be playing mostly blues and jazz. Favorites of mine are B. B. King, George Benson, and Earl Klugh. What I'm really looking for is something to fool around with in my free time. At the most, I'd like to jam with a few friends. My ambitions aren't that great, but most of the people that I've talked with still say "don't scrimp." They recommend buying a good guitar now that'll hold its value, then selling it in a few years and buying a great guitar. Any tips or recommendations? Please mail them to me. I'll be happy to return a summary of the responses to anyone who wants it.
