"Several publishers of textbooks that were rejected last week by the California Board of Education for use in seventh- and eighth-grade science classes said they expected to revise their textbooks in time for adoption next year. The board rejected 20 science books, asserting the publishers had diluted instruction on evolution, apparently in an effort to placate fundamentalists. It invited the five publishers of the seven books it ranked haighest to submit revisions by Oct. 15 if they wanted to be considered for the 1986-1987 school year. Top officials of three of the publishers said yesterday that they hoped to respond in time." Let's hear it for the California Board of Education!!! All Right!!! Score another victory for evolution. -- Dave Fritzinger, Public Health Research Institute, NY,NY {allegra!phri!fritz} "I think. I think I am. Therefore, I am,...I think."
