If such a clause were to be enacted into law and sustained by the courts, I believe that it would be a grave blow to our constitutional right to freedom of religion. However, I have great faith in the ability of our courts to recognize such nonsense for what it is, even if it did manage to slip by the Senate. If this does make it into law, I would expect the ACLU to challenge it vigorously, even if other interested groups lack the resources to do so.
