It seems that none of them actually fit properly or securely for that matter. You could use one of the chain type trailer hitch mounts, these are removable. The HOLDER 12 board boat is 12 feet long and weighs about 150 pounds. It can be fairly securely fastened at the front and rear (bow - stern?) via the front and rear bumpers. All you need is a decent pad between the boat and the car roof. I do recommend that you use good quality rope, none of that cheap stuff. The LASER, TOPPER, FORCE FIVE, SUNFISH, STARFISH are also not bad in this respect, either. The magazine titled "Small Boat Journal" has a lot of the small board boats advertised, usually. There is a disadvantage to all of these types of boats. They all require you to hang out over the side in heavier wind days. This can cause very severe and or serious back problems. Thus you need to be in decent or reasonable physical condition. When the LASER first came onto the boating scene, a lot of sailors (who had big boats) thought that they'd be great fun. After they threw their backs out, they quickly sold their Lasers. Also, these boats are quite bulky, thus it takes two people to load or unload one from a vehicle. There is still a lot to be said for windsurfing. The sailboards generally cost about half as much as a board boat. They only need one person to load or unload After you get through the learning phase, then sailboards don't cause the back stress or problems that occur with board boats. Actually, for most people, it seems that after the first three learning sessions, it gets much easier to windsurf. This excludes going to the ocean and zooming up and down the waves of course. On moderately windy days, you tend to hang off of the sail anyway, thus your not generating a lot of back stress. If you check out some of the windsurfing magazines, you can mailorder brand new sailboards at some pretty good prices. SAILBOARD WHAREHOUSE offers a nice standard board complete for $399.00. As a matter of fact I purchased this board and it is not a bad learning board and it works pretty good in up to fairly high winds. Although, a person can quickly outgrow it, it is a lot of fun and the price is right. Brought to you by Super Global Mega Corp .com
