Newcomers to this net may be interested to know that this essay got my posting privileges revoked at the fundamentalist-run Computer Science Department of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The essay manages to be a source of controversy even months after it has been posted; after a several months absence (due to the UNC incident), for example, I returned to USENET only to find the essay a hot topic of discussion. Recently, Paul Zimmerman brought it up again during his proselytizing for maltheism. I hope that it challenges and informs people who have little knowledge of the less savory parts of the Bible, or who have never heard the idea that "God is intrinsically good" questioned. -=- Tim Maroney, Carnegie-Mellon University, Networking ARPA: Tim.Maroney@CMU-CS-K uucp: seismo!cmu-cs-k!tim CompuServe: 74176,1360 audio: shout "Hey, Tim!"
