The game involves interstellar naval strategy & tactics, including ship construction, repair, and refitting; technological advancement (both in terms of specific devices and general tech level), and other factors such as governmental types of home and conquered/allied worlds, taxation, long-range communication, etc. It could include other factors such as cultural differences (I would prefer to keep it all or nearly all human, though this too could change), espionage, etc. At this point the idea seems attractive to me, though I have not thought out all of the ramifications of doing something like this over the net...so I am looking for ideas/criticisms/suggestions/questions. I think 5 to 10 players would be best, and (for those familiar with Traveller) the playing area would be probably 2 to 8 subsectors. Both experienced and novice players would be great, and there would be a modest investment for the rule book (TCS, I think about $5-$6, though its been a while since I bought mine). E-mail (or phone, if you are feeling onassistic) to me with any responses. I'll post any further developments to net.games.pbm.
