One thing I have read is that stage hypnotists often look for ``subjects''
who strongly deny that they can ever be hypnotized.  Their resistance plays
right into the hypnotist's hands since their attention is completely focused
on the situation.  The worst subjects are those who simply don't care
whether they are hypnotized or not.

[Note: this is not meant in any way to condone stage hypnosis, or the use
of hypnosis by anyone who is not thoroughly trained in psychology, just
like it is not meant to condone the mis-use of any similar phenomena by
various more-or-less ``cult'' groups.]
