I have gotten some mail (thanks to those who sent me messages) and I have
read the flames on the net with interest regardiing my postings about
net.personals.  I guess I have to agree with those who think it would work
better as a "moderated" or "anonymous" system, since anyone is then free
to include his/her identity if they want to, but allows people to "look"
without the knowledge of the net/coworkers/siblings who might be watching
the net like hawks.  My only problem with this is still that it is enough
of a hassle that probably too few people will "subscribe", with the result
that it won't work very well.  The more people who freely exchange this
kind of stuff (in a free-for-all atmosphere, ideally), the better it will
be received by all.

Don't get me wrong--I am all in favor of net.personals, but I have been
flaming (sorry) because it is usually past my bedtime, and because I really
would like to see it develop into a very free-form thing where everybody
and her sister posts net.personals all the time.  After all, there is
no per-word limit like there is in the personal rags.  What fun we could
all have.

We just need a ground rule like:  "If anybody posts a 'Re:' to a
net.personal that is in bad taste, that we all mail the thing back to
him/her (or whatever nasty thing we can think of) so that nobody will
be tempted to be a jerk, which is likely to be a great temptation.

Good, clean fun, I call it.

And, yes, somebody has been quoting me (with lots of >>>'s ) and attesting
it to some other poor soul....  (hee hee)
