I would like to raise points about Night Court and Hill Street and would be interested in others' opinions. Re: Night Court....Mrs. Huffnagel can stay, but I want Billy back. Of course, nobody can replace Selma Diamond, but she's gone and I think the new character is promising. However, I *don't* understand why Ellen Foley was canned. TV Guide gave some vague excuse (which did sound lame enough to reflect programming logic) that the "chemistry" between Harry Anderson and her was too "brother-and-sister" to allow for the "possible love interest" they wanted to develop. Personally, I thought the chemistry (or at least the biology) was fine and the interaction between Anderson and Markie Post pretty pathetic. Besides, if you're going to have con-man, magician Anderson as a judge, what better casting for P.D. than a former back-up singer for Meatloaf? Re: Hill Street....Very strange tone; rather confused stories. This professed attempt to "include more of the personal lives" was pretty lame and inconsistent (e.g. where was Robin when Belker was dealing with his mother's death?). Davenport had the only great line (about the wife wanting to know if they were free for dinner on Friday). Maybe Steven Bochco's absence is to blame, I don't know. Plus, is anything going to be said about the cast members who were canned? At least in previous seasons, they had the good grace to blow people away with style (or at least in slow motion). These opinion are purely my own, and not all that pure at that. Brought to you by Super Global Mega Corp .com
