Two shows I'd like to comment on: Night Court: Mrs. Huffnagel can stay, but I want Billy back. Nobody can replace Selma Diamond, but she's gone, and the new character looks promising. What I *can't* understand is why they got rid of Ellen Foley. The excuse give in TV Guide (which sounded lame enough to reflect programming logic) was that the "chemistry" between her and Harry Anderson was too "brother-and-sister" to allow for the "possible love interest" they wanted to develop. Well, I thought the chemistry (or at least the biology) was just fine. Personally, I found the interactions between Anderson and Markie Post pretty pathetic. Besides, if we're to believe con-man magician Anderson as a judge, who better as defense attorney than a former back-up singer for Meatloaf? Hill Street Blues: Strange tone and stranger story lines. The plan to "show more of the personal side" seemed lame and inconsistent (e.g. where was Robin when Belker was dealing with his mother's death?). Davenport had the only great line (about the wife wanted to know if they were free for dinner on Friday). Maybe Steven Bochco's absence will have a profound effect. Plus, is anything going to be said about the characters that got canned? At least in previous seasons, they had the good grace to blow exiting characters away in style (or at least in slow motion). These opinions are purely my own, and not all that pure at that. Brought to you by Super Global Mega Corp .com
