Waterloo, Ontario Lines: 45 Xref: watmath ont.jobs:92 kw.jobs:15 can.jobs:44 Looking Glass Software Limited of Waterloo is seeking new permanent staff. Skills required are as follows: Systems Programmer: An experienced programmer to work on the "Alice" programming system. The Alice system is a syntax-directed editor based programming environment that is already in use in Ontario schools and will be shortly shipping to the personal computer market. It's the best system around for people learning how to program and will shortly be the subject of a major marketing effort. The ideal applicant should have knowledge of programming language theory and compiler construction, as well as good software engineering skills. Microcomputer experience an asset. Technical Writer: A writer with some knowledge of programming is required to develop and maintain documentation for the Alice system described above. This includes maintaining and adapting 3 books and 500 help screens already set up for Pascal to deal with a different programming language. Knowledge of computer based text editing and formatting systems a definite asset. General skills in business and administration would also be of high use. Those with combinations of any of the above skills would be particularly interesting to us. We will also consider application from those wishing to do contract work on either the documentation or a fast code generator for an incremental compiler. Looking Glass Software is located in Waterloo Town Square in downtown Waterloo. LGS offers variable hours and good working conditions, plus a small company atmosphere. All work is done under Unix with C. Pay offered will be in line with experience, and a profit sharing plan is forthcoming. Call Brad Templeton at 519/884-7473 concerning these positions.
