I'm trying to connect a Smartmodem 1200 (first mistake) to a uVAX via
a dhv-11 (second mistake) and having problems. Here are the symptoms:

     1.	I place a call to the telephone line that the modem is
	connected to.

     2.	The modem asserts carrier.

     3.	VMS asserts data terminal ready.

     4. VMS removes data terminal ready for a few seconds.

     5. This causes my phone call to hang up.

     6. VMS asserts data terminal ready.

Anybody got any ideas?

The same Smartmodem works as expected when connected to a VAX-11/780
via a DZ-11.
