At least if you want to run Version 5 of SAS, which is shipping now. It won't work. Period. SAS couldn't get a pre-release of 4.2, and there are a lot of things going wrong. Here's the situation as it stands: 1. SAS Version 4.10 will work with VMS Version 4.2 if you've applied the RTL patch that was the hot rage in Info-VAX a while back. (The patch is DEC # MTH043 to MTH$DEXP.) 2. SAS Version 5.02 will run with VMS 3.X. 3. SAS Version 5.03 will run with VMS 4.0 to 4.1+. 4. SAS Version 5.04(?) will run with VMS 4.2. I spoke with SAS today and they were, even as we spoke, recompiling SAS under 4.2. There's a lot of heat on, and they're doing their best. But while I'm a great SAS advocate, I think they should have let us know that it woudn't work. Too much postage, I guess. Anyway, a word to the wise... Peter
