Message-ID: <240@cmu-cs-wb1.ARPA> Date: Mon, 14-Oct-85 15:52:46 EDT Article-I.D.: cmu-cs-w.240 Posted: Mon Oct 14 15:52:46 1985 Date-Received: Thu, 17-Oct-85 01:38:25 EDT Organization: Carnegie-Mellon University, CS/RI Lines: 14 I've seen mention of the Technics sl-xp7 (the new portable CD player) in the audio magazines for the past few months, but they don't seem to have shown up in stores yet. Does anyone now if there is a good reason? For those who aren't familiar with it, it is slightly smaller than Sony's portable, and has specs similar to Technics home CD players (in other words, pretty poor compared to most decent players, but probably adequate, and definitely better than the Sony D-5). I'm attracted to a portable, thinking that it would be nice to be able to have good music in every room of the house, but I'm wondering if this unit would make an adequate substitute for a larger home unit (say a Magnavox 1040, which at $100 cheaper might sound better). Any comments? -david anderson ..!seismo!cmu-cs-wb1!dba dba@k.cs.cmu.edu (412) 422-1255
