I have found no store in the Boston area that has even heard of it yet. At first glance, it looks like a black-finish version of the Sony D-5 portable, but it is actually about half the size of a CDP-302. It is a top-loading player, and its front panel is clearly derived from the CDP-302 design. It has analog output filtering with no oversampling. The frequency response is the same as the CDP-302, and the other specs are within 5 or 6 dB. Maximum search time is 4 seconds intead of 1. It has a variable-output headphone jack and programmability for 16 tracks. It does not support indexing, but includes a remote control. List price is $299.95. I already have a CDP-302, but am looking for a player as a gift for someone else. If anyone gets more information on the CDP-7F or actually sees one in a store, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Bill
