I've noticed a peculiar thing happening, though: some technical postings going to BOTH net.auto and net.auto.tech! It would seem that this kind of redundancy is just the thing we would want to avoid, so that each of the "auto" newsgroups doesn't get cluttered up needlessly with the "wrong" type of topics. Perhaps this has been occurring due to vagaries of system administration (does this happen "automatically" for a while when a new group is spun off?), or perhaps it will just take a while for the dust to settle and for us all to figure out which kinds of articles ought to go where. Anyway, I'm glad our recent discussions about all this have come to fruition. - Mark Bernstein (UT Austin, Speech Communication)
