Hangin', I say, hangin's too good for the man... My first reaction to hearing about Jean Grey's planned ressurection was "Shooter's a dead man..." Then went out and read the Avengers and FF which handled the story. I didn't like them. There were a lot of problems with them that appeared on a second-reading (most of them mentioned in previous postings). Also, I still feel that whatever the editorial circumstance behind Jean Grey's death, it was the by far the "best" death I remember in comics. Bringining Jean Grey back to life cheapens the meaning and the sacrifice behind the death in the first place. What makes it even worse is that the ressurection isn't even a logical development of some plot line. Jean Grey was revived solely and only because Jim Shooter wants to bring back the original X-Man team. Knowing that the motive behind the story-line is pure and simple greed aggravates the hell out of me, and makes it very difficult for me to accept a plot that isn't absolutely air-tight. Personally I think Shooter's got a lot to answer for. Like countless editorial decisions, Secret Bores, Secret Bores II (talk about trying to soak the public for every cent he can get), and now this. I just think it's a pretty sad thing that one person can screw up so many good comics.
