If you want real horizontal scrolling, get a terminal that does it in hardware; the HP2626 comes quickly to mind, there may be others. Failing that, I don't want to wait for a repaint, full or partial, of the screen. I'd rather live with wrap. (Actually, shifting only the current line has some appeal; would be useless for sets of lines requiring visual alignment, like tables or equations or character diagrams, though). -- Jason D.
