Stallman sg#0 does not confuse GNU Emacs. Be careful about removing it! sg#0 says that standout-on/off output magic cookies of width 0, that remain fixed on the screen, and that text following a turn-on cookie is in standout mode. If sg is not used, it says that standout-on/off sequences control a mode in the terminal which affects characters when they are output. As far as I can tell, both kinds of terminals exist. If a termcap entry has sg#0, either it is there erroneously or it is necessary.
