Assuming $.15 per minute connect time, and 800 baud effective throughput, this signature costs effectively costs about $.01 to transmit. Assuming 1000 sites on the net, that says it costs about $10 to transmit this eight line signature all over the world. As far as storage goes, 487 bytes is probably enough to bump the disk storage for this article up by one block. How does one effectively calculate the "cost" for this extra storage? It would be lovely if the net were free like everyone seems to think it is. IT ISN'T! And as far as net news readers are concerned, the 3-4 seconds it takes to display this kind of signature at 1200 baud seems like forever. Just because you read *your* news at 9600 baud, please be a bit more considerate to those who don't. -- roger long filenet corp trwrb!felix!bytebug
