An easier strategy if you are playing a Caveman is: E- (engrave empty-handed) "Elbereth". Then, since cavemen are usually equipped with a quantum of arrows, weild your bow, and fire away. Also, they don't make very good theives if they are blinded (tourist). Using your wands on something this "low" is really something I would consider a waste. I mean, use all of your magic on something that deserves it...like dragons, cockatrices... "Who let this clown in here anyway?"
