I think its a variable, whether or not a ring works. First time I heard about the ring of adornment bit, I wore it, and the slime stole a scroll of enchant weapon. Would have come in handy if i had found a worm tooth. So next time I had one, I wielded it, and she was "dazzled by the ring of adorn- ment" and I slew her. A few days later, it happened again, but no such luck. I think its like the same chances should a homunculus put you to sleep or a gelatinous cube freezing you, etc. So try it, but the chances are if you have anything valuable you really need, Murphy's Law becomes part of the source code. By the way. Nymphs are pains in the groin, but I got a little more respect for them after I read a scroll of punishment--and she took the ball and chain! --Ross -- ---------------------------------------------- Ross Jacobs {ihnp4,decvax,linus}!dartvax!rossj ARPA: rossj%dartmouth@csnet-relay CSNET: rossj@dartmouth
