Can anyone either give me a short (< 1 screen full) synopsis of what the
transport layer (layer 4) of the ISO 7 layer model does or point me towards a
quick reference.  We've got a copy of the standard coming but a quick intro
would be invaluable.

As usual mail to me - I'll summarise to the net if required.
