I use a PIE Interface Card was is/was made by Lemdata Products, PO Box 1080
Columbia, Md. 21044. This converts IEEE-488 to parallel Centronics, and 
takes care of the "half-ASCII" PET codes.  The parallel Centronics interface
is supported by a number of low cost, letter quality printers.  I have it
running on a NEC spinwriter Model 5530, which, unfortunately has also been
discontinued.   Good luck in finding the board!
