I am logging on to a VAX running 4.2BSD, trying to run vi. The Apple is losing characters frequently, giving me fits trying to remotely edit a file. The Apple blows its mind whether I am in vt52 or vt100 emulation modes. Questions: Does anyone know how to get an Apple IIe to talk at 1200 baud like a vt100 or vt52 (or other standard terminal emulation)? Does anyone know of a modem card that has firmware to run at 1200 baud (80 col) that I could use with Ascii Express or some other program (might speed it up)? Would using a regular 80 col. card (like a Smarterm II) fix the problem (and does it still allow use of a RAM card in the AUX slot?). I know there have been discussions of this problem on the net before, but I don't recall ever seeing a working solution to the problem posted. I have heard that in 40 col. mode, Ascii Express will work at 1200 baud, but I really need that 80 col. display, and reasonable terminal emulation for vi. Please email replies to the me and I will summarize responses to the net. Dale Call tektronix!dadla!dcall
