 I recently posted some TASC questions related to interrupt handling.
In this message I suspected Microsoft's TASC compiler to interfere
with interrupt processing.

 My apologies to Microsoft: The problem was my own, and happened when
I ported the code from the interpreter to the compiled environment.
Thanks to those who replied -- some of you came very close to the real 
problem.
