Silicon Beach Software makes a nice set of utilities for the Macintosh called
Accessory Pak1.  That set includes the program paintcutter which works with 
full screen MacPaint documents.  The program has worked for the numerous 
applications on which I have tried it.  It does support saving full page 
pictures to the clipboard for transmittal to other programs.  Accessory Pak1
includes some other nice, although smaller utilities, such as a screen saver
and quick disk eject ( no longer needed with the Finder 4.1 shutdown command).
