A slightly different solution was posted some time back. (Sorry, original poster, I've forgotten your name.) Using ResEdit, open a copy of MacTerminal and find the alert that squawks about the missing ImageWriter file. Turn off all of the staging bits. Poof! The alert no longer does anything.
