It might be "Space Monster". The alien is played by a man in a gorilla suit wearing a spherical helmet from an old-fashioned deap-sea diving suit. He keeps calling up his superiors on an old TV set. I agree that it should be on the list of bad movies. While we're at it, I'll also nominate Glen or Glenda, Hercules, and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
