I just found some of the weird people pretty funny. The weirdo described in the film who loved WIZARD OF OZ, for example, is putting a perfectly valid interpretation on the film, but not one I would have thought of. Coming up as it did, I thought thought was a clever piece of humor. There were all kinds of little ironies tying apparently unconnected pieces of the film together. I won't repeat them here so as not to spoil the film, but it was just an amazing script. It plays very heavily on the viewers' expectations. It is not to everyone's taste, I suppose, but it is certainly worth a try. >not eliciting more than a few chuckles from me. I don't think >many other people in the audience thought it very funny >either (I saw it in northern Mass.), I grew up in Western Mass. I didn't see too many of the SoHo types there. They all seem to gravitate to the big cities. It is hard to say what I would have thought about the film had I not lived for some time near NYC. That could make a difference.
