I disagree with Joel's thinking on ShareWare, but agree with his recommendation that we move towards something like mod.sources.mac. The utility I get out of ShareWare, plus the option to throw it away if I don't like it with no $ lost, far outways the "commercial" stigma of a software author asking for money if I like his product. Granted, this use of net.micro.mac costs bandwidth. Outside of net.{flame, abortion,...}, net.sources.mac consumes a large percentage of our news resources, and there's a lot of near duplication in content. Let's give some serious thought to mod.sources.mac. -- David W. Smith {nsc, ucbvax}!tolerant!dws Tolerant Systems, Inc. 408/946-5667 [Standard Disclaimer]
