Apparently my tongue was not far enough in my cheek when I mentioned
that you can figure the power output by adding up the wattages of the 
lamps lit.  If the machine is a Tesla coil (or similar) type device
a someone has suggested the power required to light the bulbs could
be significantly less than the rated wattages.  This could account for
the apparent creation of energy through ignorance or deception.

Not having seen the machine, this is pure speculation.  However, well
tested physical laws and psychological 'laws' point to it being a scam.
