Here is the latest conspiracy theory I heard:

That the failure of the mission to rescue the hostages
in Iran was the result of a plot to make Carter look bad,
so as to help Reagan to get elected.

Here is one I made up myself:

That the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior was part of a
right-wing plot to make Mitterand look bad.
