Get a horse. Far more women ride than men; the ratio at most barns is about 5 to 1. .... John Nagle /* End of text from uiucdcsb:net.singles */ You don't actually have to get a horse, taking lessons at a riding academy (that teaches adults) is also a possibility. Classes are usually segregated by ability level, but never by gender. Riders also frequently like to hang around before and after lessons to chat, so it can be quite social and very friendly. (It's hard to stay aloof when the whole world has seen you bite the dust once or twice). (And falling off a horse generally looks much worse than it is.) I wish more men would learn to ride. There is no nicer way to spend a couple of hours than a quiet cross country hack. The only way to improve on it is to have someone nice to ride with. - Judy Grass, University of Illinois - Urbana (A dedicated horseless horseman) {ihnp4,pur-ee,convex}!uiucdcs!grass grass%uiuc.arpa
