View, CA Lines: 18 Xref: watmath net.columbia:1695 net.space:4641 In the current Astrogram [our local rag]: NASA to Test Space Shuttle Tiles in Rain At Ames-Dryden, they are beginning a series of F-104 flights with titles mounted on a test fixture [some new some used from Columbia]. The F-104 will fly behind a KC-135 dumping water out the back testing sizes of various droplets, and other conditions. Initial flights (16-28 total) will be over the Mohave and later over VAFB. There will be subsonic and supersonic flights. Ice crystal as well as liquid tests. A camera and other instruments will check damage.
